Day 9: Dancing
Saturday, May 13, 2000

Saturday morning we lounged about in bed for a few hours before finally getting up around noon and heading out for breakfast. We had been told that there was an Internet cafe located in a nearby department store which had laptop connections. We decided to eat in the store's restaurant (which was actually quite tasty), and then attempt to upload the pages for day's 6 to 8.

Unfortunately, what they meant by a "laptop" connection was a phone jack. Even covertly connecting to an ethernet drop under the counter didn't help, as we had no way to get an IP address. Oh well, back to the hotel to do the upload with an international call back to the US at 9600 baud...

We slept for a while and received a call from Rick's friend Julia inviting us to dinner. We headed out around 7:30, to meet them in Leicester Square at 8pm.

Leicester Square on a Saturday evening at 8pm is a complete zoo. We all decided to go somewhere less crowded, so we hopped on the tube to Islington in Northern London.

We found a nice little restaurant with outside seating and had dinner. Randy had been getting a little cranky on the way to the restaurant, due to hunger (and some high maintenance members of the group), but food and drink smoothed things over.

At 11:30 we headed back to the hotel to change to go out dancing. We took a cab to the Southern part of the city to "Imperial Gardens". There was a good crowd, and some really good music. We both had a really nice time, everyone there seemed very friendly, with little attitude.

Around 5:30am we decided to head back to our hotel for some much needed rest.
