Day 5: Relax...
Tuesday, May 9, 2000

After yesterday's nonstop sightseeing (and jet-lag catching up with us as we tried to go to sleep last night, fortunately we had some Nyquil on hand) we decided to make today a very relaxing day. Rick bounced out of bed at 8:30am, chanting: breakfast, breakfast, breakfast! He had been hungry since the time we went to bed. After breakfast we slept for a few more hours, then finally got up around noon.

We walked over to an Internet cafe, hoping to be able to hook up the powerbook to an ethernet line. No such luck. I knew it was a lost cause when the snooty attendant tried to tell me that an ethernet connection and a modem connection were the same thing, and that they couldn't let me use either directly, because they didn't know what viruses my laptop might give their network... dorks.

We stopped at a music store on the way back to the hotel and picked up a few trance discs. We're definitely planning on picking up more music in London.

Back at the hotel we just relaxed. We decided that there are two kinds of time off from work. The first is a "trip", where lots of things are planned and there is something to be done at every moment. A "vacation" is a much lower intensity affair which concentrates on reducing stress and having fun. We're trying to balance the two for the best of both.

Below is a combined map of all the sightseeing we've done. If you check out the 1 kilometer reference box in yellow, you can see that we traveled quite a bit, with a good deal of it being walking.

Now we're hugry again...
