Sunday night we had decided to have lunch on Monday with Chris and two of his friends that Rick knew from online, Steve and Bill. We met them near the Savoy Hotel, and then walked to a restaurant named "Jim Allen". The food was really good and we had a great time talking with all of them. They are lots of fun and we hope they come to visit us in San Francisco.
Afterwards Steve and Bill headed off to drive home to Manchester, and Chris took us through the London Opera House, and then showed us where the London Transport Museum was, since we wanted to see it.

The museum was lots of fun, with a great deal of info on the history of the London underground system. Rick and Randy both enjoyed it quite a bit.
We had one errand to run, and then planned to head back to the hotel before going out to Kew gardens for dinner with Rick's friend Julia. Unfortunately, Randy started to have an upset stomach, which made the trip back somewhat unpleasant. Randy's stomach trouble progressed to nausea, and was starting to look like food poisoning. After reassurances that he'd be OK, Rick headed out by himself to have dinner with Julia. Rick took the tube to Kew Gardens where he met Julia. They ate at an Italian Restaurant. Rick had bruschetta, Lobster, lots of red wine, and a big dessert platter. He and Julia had lots of fun chatting and catching up. Hopefully she will come to visit sometime this year. When Rick returned Randy hadn't gotten any better. We called the front desk who told us we could have a doctor come to the hotel, which we did. He arrived around two hours later and diagnosed food poisoning, giving Randy three different medications to speed his recovery. House calls, what a concept! We ended up getting to sleep around 3:30am... |
