North Seymour Island
We had lunch back on the boat, then prepped for our first shore excursion to North Seymour Island. Rick's stomach wasn't feeling very well, but he pressed on to the land tour. We saw iguanas (both land and marine), sea lions and lots of blue footed boobies. We made sure to get pictures of them this time as we had somehow gotten home last time without a single picture of one!
The marine iguanas were foraging along the sea, the sea lions were lounging on the sand and on the rocks, and the boobies were doing mating dances, fluffing their feathers and slowly lifting their feet. Lots to see all around.
Back on the boat Rick wasn't feeling very well and went to the room for a nap. Unfortunately he kept feeling worse until he got sick to his stomach on the back deck. The rest of the afternoon and evening he was violently ill, a very unhappy penguin! Randy did his best to care for him, there wasn't really much he could do besides staying at his side. Around mid-evening we discovered that Tim had been feeling almost as badly as Rick and we deduced that the ceviche from the hotel in Guayaquil was the likely culprit, as Randy had not eaten any. New rule: no raw fish on an outbound journey.
