Saturday was a low energy day. We had a leisurely lunch, then went to the supermarket for supplies. Back at the apartment we did some reading, Randy worked on the first two pages of the website, and several of us napped.

As the sun was beginning to set we had cocktails on the terrace, then about 10:30pm we drove over to Benidorm for dinner. Unfortunately, it seemed that we were not the only ones with that idea!

The beach was very crowded.

Benidorm is a very popular beach city with an astounding number of high rise buildings and rows and rows of touristy shops. The traffic was really bad and there was absolutely no parking. After about half an hour of driving around, we decided to head back to Altea where we knew we'd have an easier time finding a place to park and eat.

We ate at the Pizzeria Tutti Frutti, where a very cute British waiter served us pasta, fish and pork as we looked out over the beach and the sea. Too bad he wasn't on the menu!

Afterwards we headed back to the apartment to get some rest.

Sunday was also a quiet day, lounging around reading and sunning at the beach. Late in the afternoon we decided to go back to Benidorm to walk along the beach. We left around 6pm and found parking close to the beach.

Benidorm is amazingly built up, with high rise apartment buildings and hotels right up against the beach for as far as the eye can see. We walked along the beach and watched the amazing variety of people who were there. At 7pm on a Sunday night the beach was packed!

Almost looks like Waikiki.

This building looked like it was about to fall over.

At the small church in the old town of Benidorm they happened to be performing a once a year processional to bless the fishing fleet.

A large statue of the Virgin Mary was carried through the streets and onto a boat. Then a column of boats proceeded across the harbor.

We grabbed a sandwich at Subway (couldn't handle another ham and cheese and egg meal) then walked back to the car and returned to Altea.

Rick and Randy decided to stay in and watch a movie on the laptop and JP and Matthew went out for a few drinks.

The beginning of the processional.
