Las Vegas - Zumanity
On Friday November 6 we caught a flight to Vegas to join our friends Louis, Al, Chris and Don along with Matt and Maria, some friends of Louis'. We were there to see the new Cirque du Soleil, Zumanity the following night. We stayed at New York New York, in a nice room looking out over the strip. We all got together in the Big Apple Bar and had a drink, then headed over to the Coyote Cafe for a great dinner. Afterwards we all went over to the Luxor for some dancing at Ra. We were there a bit early, so we had a drink and played the slots a bit. Rick was doing quite well, winning almost $120 in the span of about 20 minutes! Once we went into the club, the music wasn't that great, but we were sure it would get better. Finally at 1am they changed djs and the music did get much better. We had a lot of fun for the next hour , but then they switched djs again... sigh. We went to a couple of other clubs, since Randy was sure one of them would be better. Rick put up with that for a bit, but finally convinced Randy it was time to call it a night. We had a bit of room service and then went to sleep.

On Saturday we decided to walk over to the Bellagio to watch the fountains, which were very cool. Then we took a cab up to the Stratosphere Tower were Louis, Al, Chris and Don joined us. We went up to the top and rode the new ride "Excream", which was more fun to watch than to ride, then rode one of our favorite rides anywhere: The Big Shot. Always a blast. Back at NYNY we had a drink and played the slots a bit, then headed up to the rooms to get ready for the show. All dressed, we met everyone outside the theatre. We had good seats and the theatre was pretty cool. The show itself was OK, but I think it was more intended for people from Kansas than California. There wasn't as much acrobatics as other Cirque shows, and a night at a gay club in San Francisco or Folsom Street Fair has far more eye candy. It was still a fun time. Afterwards we hung around the casino for a while, then said our goodbyes to everyone.

Sunday morning Randy got up and packed, then headed to the airport. Rick stayed for another day to see our friends Maia and Kevin, and to meet their new baby daughter, Sophia. He had a great time, saw some penguins(!), and had a nice dinner. Rick stayed the night at the Paris, where Kevin and Maia were staying. On the way home on Monday he ended up sitting next to Louis and Al, they had stayed an extra day to see Mama Mia.
