We left San Jose the morning of Friday, June 14, headed to San Diego to see our friends Maia and Kevin.

We spent the afternoon at the San Diego Zoo, then headed to their house for dinner. They had just bought their house a few months before we last saw them (on our houseboat trip last summer), and have done an amazing amount of work on the house. The kitchen was completely redone, as well as several other rooms in the house. It looks awesome!

Friday night we had dinner at Beni-Hana, then went back to the house for some of Kevin's Caramel Apple Martinis. Mmmmm! We stayed up talking and lauging for quite a while.

Saturday morning we had brunch with our friend Karl and his cousins. He lives in San Diego, right in the heart of the Hillcrest area. It was great to see him again!

Saturday afternoon we kept it really low-key and headed for the Fashion Valley Mall. We had fun wandering around (Rick and Maia really liked the Aveda store!) For dinner we went to a great little restaurant in the next town over. Back at the house we tried watching a couple of movies, but never really got into them.

Sunday morning it was brunch in La Jolla where Maia works. We drove up to the top of one of the mountain peaks and got a great view of the beach and the ocean.

All in all a great trip!
