Wednesday August 10

Woke up at 7, grabbed a quick bite to eat in the Windjammer, showered, then waited in the main theater until it was our turn to leave at 9:30. Our van driver was waiting, took us about 40 minutes away to La Posta Vecchia, a villa on the ocean that was once owned by J. Paul Getty.

Today it's a boutique hotel with an outdoor restaurant where we had brunch. Afterwards we walked around the property, then our driver took us to the airport for a quick flight to Brussels.

In Belgium we were met by our friend Pat along with Ollie and Cath who had visited us a few months earlier. We drove to their lofts in the town of Seraing, near Liege. We all went up to the roof for cocktails and appetizers, then down to Pat's place for a delicious dinner. At around 11 we were tired and headed to sleep.

Thursday August 11

Had breakfast, drove into Liege to pick up Randy's glasses (that had been forgotten in Venice), had lunch in Liege at The Kitchen, which was delicious. Then we drove to a train museum close to the French border, a surprise for Randy!

We headed back through Dinant, a cute town on the river with a fort above it on the hill.

Then we headed to Warnant to visit Pat's friends Patrice and Fanny for dinner.

  • What does this remind you of?

We ate on their back deck as their two girls (Adelle and Eva) played in the pool. We stayed until about 11, then headed back to Liege to Pat's place.
