Sunday August 7

Arrived in Tunis, had a 9:15am tour. Hopped on a (thankfully) well air conditioned bus, then went on to see the ruins at Carthage. It was really hot (112°!). Bus took us to the city of Sidi Bous where there was a small market. Then we went to see an ancient amphitheater, then back to the ship. The boat left at 3pm, heading back north. Had dinner in the main dining room, then decided another solid night of sleep was in order.

  • Hot!
  • Did we mention hot?
  • Thirsty!

Monday August 8

Ship docked in Naples, we decided to take the ferry out to Capri for lunch. The port of Naples is a bit chaotic, needed to take a shuttle to the other side to get the ferry. It was a high speed hydrofoil, only took 40 minutes to get there. Port was chaos, lots of ferries arrived at the same time. No taxis, gondola was full, all scooters were rented, we decided to take the stairs up to the town center; how far could it be? Turned out to be quite far… we were all sweating like crazy by the time we got to the top.

  • Jason's favorite hat!

Found restaurant overlooking the sea to cool down at. Alex and Jason walked around some more, Rick and Randy took a taxi back down to the port. Ferry ride back to the ship was quite full. At 8pm we had dinner at Murano, the specialty French restaurant, which was very tasty and very filling.

  • World's longest staircase

We went back to the room to grab an hour of sleep and drink lots of water, we were really dehydrated from the day! At 11:30 we met the boys and headed to the pool for the final party, The White Party. We all had matching hats and light up shorts that Randy and Alex had made. Had lots of fun dancing, stayed until about 3am.

  • Light up shorts!

Tuesday August 9

Boat was docked in Ajaccio in Corsica. We woke up late, then decided to go ashore for lunch about 1pm. The town was right by the dock, easy to walk to. Tried to have lunch at a little cafe, but after an hour we discovered they had lost our order; argh! Went back to the ship and ate at The Porch, fortunately the Paninis were quick. Went back to the room to relax. Met Alex and Jason and David for drinks at the Sunset Bar on the top deck at the back of the boat. We were lucky and managed to get a reservation at the Lawn Grill, the one specialty restaurant we hadn't eaten at.

  • Last sunset on the ship

They give you an opportunity to be involved in cooking your food, which they said is a first in the cruise industry. We opted to have Alex help with the flatbreads, and we decided to just watch for the rest of the food. Said our goodbyes to everyone, then headed back to the room to finish up packing and prepare to leave the ship in the morning.
