Thursday August 4
Woke up refreshed, met Alex and Jason, Rick was the first off the boat in Barcelona at 10am. Found one of the only 6 person cabs, picked up our friend Pat (who had flown down from Belgium to see us all) and all headed to La Sagrada Familia.
When we arrived we saw a line wrapping around 3 sides of the cathedral, expected a 3 hour wait. Found the "online sales" entrance, used Randy's iphone to buy tickets online, went right in after only 5 minutes of waiting! The interior was almost complete, very different from the last time we were there, really beautiful, unlike any other cathedral in the world.
Took the elevator up into one of the spires to see the city from up high.
Afterwards Alex once again used Trip Advisor to find a cute little Argentinian restaurant about 7 blocks away.
Had good food then caught two cabs to Park Guell, a park that Gaudy designed. Walked all around the park, all the way to the top, quite warm, but much fun. Took a cab back to the boat to shower and rest a bit, then headed back to Las Ramblas where we met back up with Pat. Walked around a bit, then had dinner outdoors at Taller de Tapas, very tasty tapas.
After dinner we walked two blocks to the Hotel Axel, which had an open air rooftop bar. Had a great time, several cocktails. Then Jason convinced everyone to go dancing, so we got in two cabs (with Rick and Randy in separate cabs so they couldn't back out) and headed to a club named Razzmatazz.
It was insanely crowded on the first floor, but we found some space on the balcony above where we could move and still see everything. Had lots of fun dancing and people watching, then went to another dance floor one level up. It was still early (only 2am) so the second dance floor was pretty empty, but we didn't mind.
Stayed until 3, then said goodbye to Pat and cabbed back to the boat before it left at 4. Rick went right to bed, Randy danced a bit more on the boat at Quasar before finally going to sleep.
