Last summer one of Randy's co-workers spent a weekend in the Sierra foothills at a B&B. She spoke so highly of it that we thought we'd give it a try. Querencia is located about 4 miles outside of the town of Murphys, on the road to Bear Valley Ski Rersort in the Sierras. We headed out around 2:30 on Friday and braved the rain, arriving in about 3 hours. The property and house are really amazing, and the owners, Mary Jo and Mike, made us feel right at home.
Friday evening they made us a delicious pasta and chicken dinner which we ate in the great room, looking out over the valley. We were the only guests for the weekend, so it was very quiet. Afterwards we headed up to sleep with the sound of the rain on the roof. It was great.
Saturday (after Big Trees and Moaning Caverns which are on separate pages) we had lunch in downtown Murphys, walked around a bit and then went back to Querencia. Around 6 we had appetizers in the kitchen, then we had a taxi pick us up and take us back into town for dinner at "V". It was a very popular little restaurant with great food. The owner was previously the head chef at the Ahawanee in Yosemite. After enjoying a great meal our cab driver, Jason, took us back up the windy road to the B&B where we watched a bit of a movie and went to sleep.
Sunday morning we had an early breakfast and headed back to the Bay Area. What a great way to spend a weekend!
