Off to Seattle

A few days before our trip we weren't sure if we were actually going to make it to Seattle; they were having the worst snow in years and flights were being delayed and canceled. Luckily things cleared up enough by the 23rd for us to make it with only about an hour delay. Our friend Matt was flying out at almost the same time and we hung out with him in the United lounge before the flight. We lucked out and got a 4WD Volvo Cross Country (rather than the Lincoln Towncar they wanted to give us!) in Seattle. It made all the difference, as there was quite a bit of snow on the ground in a number of places.

We stayed at the Grand Hyatt in downtown Seattle. The 24th and 25th (Wednesday and Thursday) were spent at Rick's parents, with lots of commotion Christmas morning. Mid-day we snuck our for a movie (Twilight, which was entertaining). Friday we took Rick's Mom to lunch so she could have some Rick and Randy time away from the rest of the family, which she seemed to really like. Friday evening we had dinner with Rick's brother and sister and their spouses at a tasty sushi restaurant in Seattle. We're looking forward to them all visiting us in April.

Saturday morning we took the monorail to the Space Needle for breakfast, then drove to Boeing field and the Museum of Flight, which neither of us had ever been to. Saturday afternoon we walked around downtown, all the way to Pioneer Square. Then we had dinner with Karin and Robert which was a blast.

Sunday morning we headed to the airport and flew home. Whew! A very busy Christmas!
