Yuba
River Our friends Craig and Doug invited us to take a drive up to the Yuba River in the Sierras outside Sacramento for the 4th. Their friend Adrian came along for the 2 hour or so drive. We stayed at a nice little hotel on Tuesday night, The Northern Queen Inn. Later that night two other couples arrived, ready for the next morning. On Wednesday we had breakfast with the group, then stopped at a supermarket to get food, drinks, alcohol and ice. We packed it all into a few coolers and drove out to the river. After a 20 minute hike, we were treated to an absolutely incredible view of rocks, trees and water falling over small waterfalls. The day started off really hot, but cooled off later in the day as we got a bit of cloud cover. Everyone had a great time floating in the river, sitting under the tent and hiking up further into the canyon to see the scenery. We took quite a few pictures during the day. It was no small feat, as we had to carry the camera over some pretty slippery terrain, and even swim across the river holding it up over our heads. It was worth it, though, as you'll see from the pictures. |
