Next Steps

The next task is to wire all of the turnouts. The control system that I'll be using will have a Macintosh running everything. The turnout switching is handled through a high-current switch board that I'm building. This uses a pair of high current feeders running to all of the turnouts in parallel, and a single smaller wire directly to each turnout. Two diodes are used at each turnout to prevent short circuits.

There are about a dozen bridges on the layout which all need to be planned and built.

The mountains need to be created. I'll likely use a combination of blue-foam insulation and plaster.

Painting the scenery will be the next job. Hopefully I can convince my friend Dave to help out on this (he did a great job on my last layout).

There are still a few buildings which need to be constructed to finish off the town and industrial areas.

The software which will show the entire layout and allow control of the turnouts and engines needs to be configured for the final layout.
