Rick had registered for this swim back in February and now, after months of training, the day had arrived. We woke up at 5am (Rick woke up at 3) to be at the Hyde Street Pier at 6:30am. Our friends Paul & Barry and Matt & Marc joined us on the chase boat for the event. A total of 12 (crazy) swimmers were entered in the race. We met and chatted with several of them, including Michelle who had traveled all the way from Florida to enter the event. After sailing out to the Golden Gate Bridge all of the swimmers jumped in the water at 7:55am. They swam into the bay, past the Palace of Fine Arts, along the wharf and then around the corner towards the south tower of the Bay Bridge. Rick finished the 10km swim in 1:48.6! So proud of him! Many thanks to Paul, Barry, Matt and Marc for joining us, it was great to have the biggest cheering section!
